Two weekends down, one to go. The CrossFit Team Series just wrapped up its second set of events, with the top three still composed of the same sponsored teams. Let’s see how the teams fared in each of the four events.

Event 5

Doing 150 wall balls, 100 cleans, and 50 muscle-ups for time, Rogue Fitness Red (Dan Bailey, Josh Bridges, Lauren Fisher, and Camille Leblanc-Bazinet) finished 2nd. And who wouldn’t place 2nd with a Josh Bridges beast-mode performance of 100 straight wall balls?

Competitors Reebok CrossFit East and Rogue Fitness Black did not meet high expectations and disappointingly placed 10th and 12th, respectively.

Event 6

Trying to make up for their lackluster performances in Event 5, Reebok CrossFit East (Ben Smith, Scott Panchik, Emily Bridgers, and Stacy Tovar) and Rogue Fitness Black (Rich Froning, Jason Khalipa, Sam Briggs, and Julie Foucher) finished 2nd and 3rd, respectively, to boost their rankings.

However, the event (composed of deadlifts and handstand pushups) went to Rogue Fitness Red by a 40 rep-margin, thanks to Bailey’s and Leblanc-Bazinet’s strengths in deadlifting and gymnastics.

Event 7

Emily Bridger played the role of heroine in Event 7 (21-15-9 relay of overhead squats and toes-to-bar) as she posted an amazing 2:20 time to give Reebok CrossFit East the much-needed first place victory. Rogue Fitness Red and Reebok CrossFit West (Tommy Hackenbruck, Noah Olsen, Lindsey Valenzuela, and Valerie Voboril) both ended up with a tie for 2nd place.

Event 8

This week’s final event was pretty simple, but also pretty grueling: a 2-rep max bench press. Competition favorites Rogue Fitness Black finally came out of their slump and finished 1stplace. Also, Sam Briggs bench pressed 195 lbs. What.

Reebok CrossFit East and Rogue Fitness Red performed somewhat poorly, placing only 7thand 11th, respectively.

Although Rogue Fitness Red finished first in week two, Reebok CrossFit East still leads the pack in the overall standings. Rogue Fitness Black, on the other hand, finished third in week two and feel from 2nd to 3rd in the overall rankings.

Heading into the final week of the CrossFit Team Series, it’s shaping up to be a three-team competition, with only 5 points separating 3rd place Rogue Fitness Black from 1st place Rogue Fitness Red. The third set of events are set to be announced on October 9th. You can see the CrossFit Team Series leaderboard here.
